Hardware Hills Vineyard

Hardware Hills Winery was established by the previous owners, Leslie and George Cushnie in 2007 as Thistle Gate Winery and was Fluvanna County’s first vineyard/winery.

Hardware Hills is located just 5 miles from historic Scottsville on VA Rt 6, and is easily accessible from Richmond, Charlottesville and other surrounding communities. The vineyard is perched above the Hardware River on well sloped terrain facing south/southwest. This aspect offers long hours of summer sun, which combined with the well-drained rocky soils, provide a unique terroir.

Visitors to Hardware Hills find a friendly, relaxing, low key atmosphere. Owners Andrea and Rob Nickels are almost always available in the tasting room to engage with customers in discussions of vineyards, wines, families, or anything interesting. You may also meet their friendly vineyard dogs, Sam and Ruby.

Hardware Hills offers music on Friday evenings and occasionally on weekend days and has numerous special events, including the annual Hillside Market, a major vendor event the day following Thanksgiving and the first Saturday in April.

 In addition to award winning wines, Hardware Hills serves a delicious Sangria, served year round in the tasting room. In addition, a light fare menu is available for those thirsty and hungry. 

Hardware Hills has a close knit and growing wine club, with wine releases 4 times a year.  If you are ready for a memorable winery experience, just Head for the Hills!
